All cats must be vaccinated EVERY YEAR against cat flu
and feline enteritis. Your vaccination booklet is required
on drop off.

Cats don't like change and may become stressed when going into a
new environment. Making them more likely to be acceptable to the flu
or passing on by shedding. Most cats who've been adopted through
the SPCA have had cat-flu. Because of the high risk of contracting cat flu
from cats shedding (but not showing symptoms) or cats contracting cat-flu,
we insist on yearly vaccinations.

Unfortunately a vaccinated cat can still contract cat flu, when a cat is vaccinated it helps to weaken its symptoms. When vaccinated symptoms are sneezing, runny nose and eyes. If not vaccinated they can become extremely sick.

We keep a close eye on all cats under our care. If we have any concerns about a cat's health it is our policy to take the cat to the vet. We will endeavour to contact you in the first instance and before any treatment decisions are made. If contact cannot be made we will ensure the cat receives the needed help. The cost for this will be passed on to the owner.
